The scene is dark and tired. Everyone involved has reached the proverbial end of their ropes. A haggard Phil Cooper, played by Danny DeVito, is left alone with the young researcher Bob Walker, played by Peter Facinelli, after Bob spent the evening talking to the man they were sent to talk to about their product – but Bob talked to him about Jesus instead.
This scene has been an influence in my life for decades and can be seen in one of the earliest articles on this site. DeVito does a phenomenal job throughout the whole movie, and this scene is the culmination of that performance. I hope you will enjoy my rendition of it.
