Welcome to the very first episode of our new storytelling podcast! Once a month, we’ll select a theme and provide a selection of interesting options for your various storytelling
needs. Whether you use them for character development, creating plot points, world building, or storytelling outside of the gaming table – we provide a host of interesting options to get your mind going.
This first episode finds your hosts, Mike Perna from Game Store Prophets and Grant Woodward from Saving the Game, talking about skeleton keys. What better theme could there be when talking about opening a new adventure in podcasting?
If something we talk about in this, or any episode gets your mind going – please feel free to add a comment to this post. We’d love to hear how you fit them into your own stories and games.
We hope you enjoy this episode and come back each month to hear what other prompts we come up with.

It’s been a LONG time since I was aware of a cool podcast starting with episode one. I’m psyched to be an early adopter!
Thanks, Doug!
I am with Doughagler – so cool to come in right at the start of a really cool and novel podcast!! I enjoy playing Atlas’ Once Upon a Time storytelling game and TMF will definitely help inspire me 😀
Once Upon a Time is a personal favorite of mine. Hopefully we’ll give you plenty of stuff to work with.
Vampiric Ring of Substance, You never have to eat again but the ring can never come off and here is the twist it can only pull life from plants and it makes you feel bad for it. the original owner…. Count Duckula.

This is … what, three different categories of macguffins in one? Magic rings—always a favorite; cursed items—interesting, and lots of room here; and food or things which change how people eat. All cool ideas worth exploring. Thanks!
The Lost Room! (miniseries)
This is slightly off topic but the title of this episode reminded me of the classic short horror story Three Skeleton Key by George G. Toudouze. I heard it first on a rebroadcast of Old Time Radio narrated by Vincent Price. If you’re up for a pyschological thrill, check it out on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkx1jIULONQ
I’d LOVE to create that kind of suspense in an RPG!
