Last year, Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day headed to youtube with an announcement. Through Tabletop, they were seeing an explosion of people gathering around game tables, and they wanted to celebrate the success of the show. Thus was born International Tabletop Day.
Tabletop Day is just what the name implies. It is a day where 
people from all over the world will gather with friends, family, even strangers to play games together. It’s a day of laughter, joy, and gaming in all its glory. So naturally we could not let this pass by without participating ourselves.
Last year, the podcast sponsored a tabletop day game-a-thon. We gathered together at a local church for ten full hours of gaming goodness. When the day was over, dozens of games had been played, countless empty calories were consumed, and more than fifty people went home with new friends and a pile of stories about their day’s adventures.
This year, Tabletop Day is going to be on April 5th. InnRoads is at the helm of an event Mike will be hosting in New Jersey. We will be increasing the day’s festivities to TWELVE HOURS of gaming. We also will harness the power of the gaming community to raise funds for a worthy cause. We will be taking donations and running events throughout the day in order to raise funds for Love True.
Love True is an organization that is fighting to end human trafficking, and specifically address sex slavery in America. We have been able to talk with them on a few occasions now at ministry events, and we look forward to hopefully raise more money to help them do what they do.

UPDATE:
We want to update you on some of the ways you can help support Love True with this event. We will still be taking donations at the door. These donations will not be required, but we hope that folks will donate to this worthwhile cause at some point in the day.
However, we will be offering some other opportunities for you to give throughout the day for prizes and other benefits.
- We will be featuring a copy of Freedom: The Underground Railroad. This is a strategy game that takes place during the time of legal slavery in this country. It is focused on a combination of liberating slaves from plantations, helping them get to Canada where they would be free, and raising support to bring about the end of slavery in America.
We will not only be able to play the game, but we will be selling raffle tickets at $5 a piece for an opportunity to take the game home and have the box signed by members of the Love True team. There will also be a signature plate accompanying the game from the game’s designer himself, Brian Mayer. The signature plate is such a new addition to this, that it may not arrive in time. However, we will, naturally, be sure to send it along to the winner.
- Our favorite FLGS (friendly local gaming store) Elite Battlegrounds has been kind enough to donate a variety of cool prizes that we’ll be offering as a package for a 2nd raffle. This will include Captain America collectibles, a STACK of comic books, and an Elite Battlegrounds play mat you can use for your next game of of Netrunner (or your card game of choice). Tickets for this prize will cost $3 per ticket.
- My lovely wife and her friend have offered to help feed hungry gamers! For a small fee, you’ll be able to enjoy a home made meal and possibly some other tasty treats. A light lunch, a dinner, and snacks/dessert will be available for suggested donation as supplies last.
- If you aren’t able to come to the event but would like to support the cause you can head to the Love True site to make a donation directly.
Remember that 100% of the money collected for this event goes directly to Love True. Folks do not have to feel obligated to be there the entire time and so can come and go for as much as they’d like. The raffle drawings will take place at 7:30pm. If you can’t be present to receive your winnings, we only request that you leave a phone number where we can reach you. If we need to contact the winner in this manner and have not heard back by 8:00pm that night, we will draw again.
