In the world of self-perception, there are two extremes that are equally wrong. The Dunning-Krueger effect says that those who are woefully incompetent will greatly overestimate their skill, and imposter syndrome is the idea that those who are qualified and highly successful will often feel like they are moments away from being discovered for the fraud they feel they are. When it comes to faith – these lead not only to delusions about who we are as individuals loved by God – but how we see everyone and everything around us.
