This will mark our third year participating in Extra Life. This is an annual event where gamers from all over the country commit to playing games for 24 hours straight in order to help raise funds for local children’s hospitals. Over the past two years, InnRoads related teams have gathered together and raised about $2400 for Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ. This year, we are hoping to keep it rolling with a team fund-raising goal of $1500 – and that is precisely where you come in.
We will be hosting a local event in New Jersey (stay tuned for location) on November 7th – the day of the event starting at 8am, and we would love it if you could join us there. However, even if you cannot make it here, you can be a part of making this year a record-setting year for the InnRoads team.
PLAY
Because of the way donations are collected through the Extra Life website – it does not matter WHERE you are. You can join the team. Even if you can’t play with us ON November 7th, you can still be part of our effort, since donations can be accept through the end of the year. All you have to do is go to our team’s page and select the “Join our team” button. If you do not already have an Extra Life screen name, you will be asked to create one. If you do, it will ask you to sign into your account. It costs you nothing to sign up, and you will have your own support page that people can use to donate to your fund raising goal. You will also be listed on the InnRoads Regulars team page as well.
Our event will feature board games, card games, and party games for 24 hours, but that doesn’t mean you are limited to that. People play all sorts of games. Maybe you want to stream a video game or gather your friends to play an epic role playing game session. Both are perfectly valid ways to participate. Likewise, if you can’t do the full 24 hours due to work, family responsibilities, or even just a sheer inability to be conscious for that long – as long as you sign up and raise support for our hospital, you are part of the team. No matter HOW LONG you can play.
Support
Maybe you can’t get out to play. Maybe your schedule is too packed already to carve out the time. Trust me, we understand. You can still participate by supporting one or more of our team members. All of our team members will come up with their personal fund-raising goals, and they won’t be able to reach them without the help of people like you who give. Whether you can give a lot or just a couple bucks – everything helps our team reach its goals, and every penny goes to help the sick and injured kids cared for by Children’s Specialized.
Get Our Shirt!
New this year, we have created a campaign through Teespring.com to put together an InnRoads team shirt. Featuring a logo that combines the Extra Life controller icon and our InnRoads Plays logo, the shirts remind us that we are playing for a purpose. We’re here to play for the kids. The back of the shirt says that you helped support us in Extra Life 2015.
In order to make sure that any team member that wants to get one of the shirts will have it available for the event, we have started the campaign today and will have it go through September 15th. Every penny we get from this campaign will go towards reaching our Extra Life team fund raising goal. Do not wait to pick up this shirt! If you do not place an order before the 15th, you will only be able to get your own only if enough people request another print run.
Share Our Team Page
Please be sure to share either this page, or just the team’s donation page itself across any social media you find yourself on. We have the potential to crush our fund raising goal, but that potential only becomes a reality if you help spread the word.
So whether you sign up to play with us and raise support, you choose to support one or more members of the team, you rock the InnRoads Regulars team shirt, or you just tell all your friends and family about this year’s event – you are a part of what we are doing here, and you have our heartfelt thanks. With your help, we can do something really great for a lot of local kids and their families who just want to get the best care available.
